January 2016 Dear Whitney Scholars and friends, While winter is often considered a period of quiet dormancy, for a foundation like Whitney Benefits, it is a time of activity, growth and rejuvenation. As we move from the first of the year towards spring and then to the beauty of high mountain summer, it is time to reflect upon past and future experiences. It is a time for us to thank those persons who brighten and enrich our foundation’s work for our community members. We are fortunate in seeing Sheridan College grow significantly in student population, new facilities, and new educational programs. Whitney Benefits welcomed 121 eager new students into the Whitney Scholars interest free student loan program. We currently have a Whitney Scholars portfolio of 900 students. They are members of the 5,500 plus “Whitney Scholar” students that have graced our student loan program since 1927. It is inspiring to see these bold young person’s grow into educated and productive citizens.  We applaud their educational successes and wish them much happiness in their pursuits. These gifted and talented “Whitney Scholars” will no doubt benefit and improve the lives of others that they touch wherever they might reside. To each of you, we say “CONGRATULATIONS!” Whitney would like to be in touch with those of you that we might have lost contact with.  If you would please send your updated contact information, we would appreciate it. Please send this information to studentloans@whitneybenefits.org. We look forward to hearing stories of your successes and sharing your accomplishments with others with your permission. Whitney plans to host a 100 year anniversary celebrating Mr. Edward A. Whitney life in 2017. As the details are developed, we hope that you will be interested in attending. Also, should you be interested in assisting Whitney Benefits financially to continue the good work, we respectfully encourage your support.
