Summer Swing Outdoor Jazz Concert

The Sheridan community welcomed the Eric Richards Jazz Ensemble for Summer Swing ’22 — a set of two free jazz concerts. These concerts were showcased July 29 at Kinnison Hall in the Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College and July 30 in downtown Sheridan at Whitney Commons Park. Both concerts were free and open to the public. These free concerts were possible due to the generous support of Whitney Benefits, the John B. and Dorothy D. Duncan Foundation, and the Sheridan College Foundation.

The group performed a wide-ranging jazz program, including original compositions, swing, Dixieland, funk, standards from the Great American Songbook, and Brazilian music. Eric Richards, director of bands and jazz studies at Sheridan College, is the ensemble’s music director, trombonist, composer, and arranger.

This group is formed by talented jazz musician-educators from Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado: Scott Jeppesen (saxophone): Montana State University, Billings, Montana; Mark Dorn (trumpet): Colorado Christian University, Lakewood, Colorado; Craig Hall (guitar): Sheridan College guitar instructor, Bozeman, Montana; Jayden Ostler (piano): Billings, Montana; Bob Bowden (bass): Los Angeles / New York professional now residing in West Yellowstone, Montana; Roxanne Jeppesen (drums): Billings, Montana; and Rocio Gosende-Washburn (vocals): Sheridan, Wyoming.
