WYO Rodeo Boot Kick Off

The 2022 Sheridan WYO Rodeo Week commenced with a lively celebration at Whitney Commons Park, showcasing the community spirit Whitney Benefits aims to foster. On Tuesday, July 12, the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and the Sheridan WYO Rodeo Board hosted their annual Boot Kick-Off and stick horse barrel race event, bringing together residents of all ages for some friendly competition. The event featured two main attractions that delighted participants and spectators alike.

Young children galloped around barrels on stick horses in a miniature version of barrel racing, embodying the educational and recreational opportunities that Whitney Commons provides for the community.

For those nine years and older, the boot-kicking contest challenged participants to see who could launch their boot the farthest, adding a unique twist to the park’s usual activities. This gathering exemplifies how Whitney Commons Park, maintained by Whitney Benefits, serves as a vibrant hub for community enrichment and local traditions. By hosting such events, the park continues to fulfill Edward A. Whitney’s vision of creating spaces that enhance the quality of life for Sheridan County residents through education, recreation, and community engagement.
